Hell Yeah Pointer 2

*warning: I think I'm lacking a lot of the basic fundamentals of comics to fully grasp some parts of the stuff I'm reading. BUT I simply do not care to learn LMAO*

THE COMICS

I'm currently going through and reading all of his comics, So I suppose this is where I'll put my thoughts on each issue!

An X means I've not yet read the issue.

1992-1996

"Spider-Man 2099" #1- Really like this as an introduction to Miguel and Spider-Man 2099!
Miguel is wearing a cropped blue jacket, a yellow grid shirt and olive green pants. love the colors of his outfit!
This issue neatly introduces us to Miguel's character, along with other important figures. Shows us Miguel's attitude, being sarcastic and rude, and the fact that he's highly intelligent and working for Alchemax to create genetically altered soldiers, only that he's verty hesitant to work on human subjects. Once it goes wrong, he tries to leave the company, only to be blackmailed and drugged by his boss, Tyler Stone. He tries to reverse the addiction only to be sabotaged by Delgato.
I LOVE Rick Leonardi's art style, so this issue's art is amazing! I also really enjoy the colors chosen (might have been a printing choice) but it gives it an interesting look!
Miguel is drawn to look scary. He has a hand up with talons, his teeth bared with fangs and he is colored to have no pupils.

"Nothing Ventured..."#2- This whole issue is also one I really like! It showed the dramaticness of the situation (Miguel's DNA being rewritten) very well and got me very excited to see what was next!
Miguel trying to save Aaron Delgato, only to have been hurting him and for him to fall anyway, and then Miguel JUMPING out the window aswell, without knowing he could climb... IT REALLY HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT FOR REAL ACTUALLY!!
Miguel is shown to have jumped out the window, screaming 'I'm a freak!! He made me into a freak!! I'd rather die!!'
He also is shown to have talons on his toes lol. + there's this panel which I LOVE? like idk it just looks really good and I think about it a lot.
The first panel shows Miguel's feet, and how he has talons coming out from the pads on his toes. The other panel shows Miguel in a torn, green jacket, holding onto the wall with his hands close to his face.
Venture is pretty interesting to me, I'm not sure if he's in any other comics or just Spider-Man 2099, but it was really cool to feel how tense the story got knowing the he was following after Miguel.
This issue is also where we get to see Gabriel in person for the first time, and the moment he appeared I KNEW I was gonna love him! I loved seeing how worried he was for Miguel and just how they interact as brothers. (His outfit is so goofy looking. I love it.) Miguel also wears a funny little robe with sunglasses
Gabriel is wearing a yellow jacket and pants, a red scarf, long green gloves, and yellow-white chaps over his red boots. Miguel is in the background with a yellow robe on and circular sunglasses on.
The only problem I had with this issue is that when the Thorite appeared, it jerked me out of the story because it had seemed so so random. I know NOTHING about any other comic characters and stories, so when there's cameos or such, I don't really enjoy it lol

"Nothing Gained "#3 - This issue has Miguel's first fight, and it was pretty cool to see! I think it's quite cool how they do a little world-building during Miguel's fight with Venture, with Miguel trying to use a Maglev car to repel Venture, showing us what the normal transportation is. And the tense cliff-hanger at the end, with Tyler Stone asking Miguel to talk about Spider-Man? It was a pretty solid issue :)

"The Specialist" #4 - This issue introduces us to Gabriel's girlfriend, Kasey Nash with her being kidnapped by The Specialist. Some Japanese characters are introduced, and continue to be prevelant throughout the rest of the comics. The majority seem to be samurai sterotypes, so I dunno how to feel about their portrayal.
Back with Miguel, Stone is talking about how he needs Miguel back because Spider-Man caused a lot of damage. Miguel then imagines a really rad scene of him attacking Tyler Stone which is SICK.
Miguel has his talons out and is holding a bottle of rapture. He is screaming at Stone 'Look what trying to shake it did to me, Ty! Fangs! Talons!'
Then Stone peaces out with the bomb of 'Aaron Delgato is Spider-Man.'
We meet up again with Gabriel, which gives us some more backstory on who he is, and how Miguel and him treat eachother. (Teasing Gabri about his ex-girlfriends and how he seemingly changes his whole self to fit their interests.)
Miguel and Gabriel talking. 'Before that there was Michelle, and you were telling me that society's sole hope was to ditch technology, worship trees and eat only oatmeal. Then there was Stacy the nudist, and I had to get you off the hook with the authorities after you marched with...' Gabriel interupts him with 'For cryin' out loud, I was a kid then!' and Miguel replies 'This all happened last year, Gabe.'
I really like Kasey's character in this issue, seeing her fight back against Alchemax and escaping.
Kasey is holding a gun saying 'Forget it! You're not running your sick expierments on me!
This issue also has one of my favorite pictures of Miguel lol. (my copy has Miguel's glassses darker, like I can't really see his eyes.) Miguel is wearing circular glasses and looking into the camera.

"Blood Oath" #5 - We see Gabriel doing art(?) in VR, and learn that he and Dana are exes.
Gabriel with his goggles pushed up to his forehead. They are plugged in with wires.
Then we go back to Kasey being SO COOL jumping from flyboy to flyboy and stealing one of their vehicles like a MANIAC!!! (she's very cool ok.)
Kasey on the back of a Public Eye Flyboy
And she tries to pilot herself and Miguel away from The Specialist.
Only thing that is weird to me in this issue is this seems to be where inconsistencies start appearing. In the issue before this one, Kasey was wearing only a crop-top, but in this one, she is wearing a tight, long sleeve shirt underneath the crop-top. Presumably so she would be showing less skin, but little inconsistencies like this continue to happen and distract me throughout this whole series lol.

"Downtown" #6 - We get more world-building in this issue, with Uptown and Downtown, which once again, is very cool. New York is a vertical city which is really cool, and Downtown uses gasoline ran cars (with wheels) and the Uptown uses Maglev cars.
Miguel is then kidnapped by the Vulture. :)

"Wing and a Prayer "#7 - Gabriel tries to look around Downtown to find Kasey, only for some people to try and steal his car ;-; but he gets away, and accidently takes one of their guns. Gabri has a gun now! :D
Gabriel holding a gun at the farthest part of it's handle with his index and thumb.
Back with Miguel, he's been kidnapped and meets the "Freakers," Vulture's gang. Miguel realizes that the Vulture is eating human remains and beats him up. Dana confronts Tyler Stone about Miguel's forced Rapture addiction, and Gabriel shoots Kasey on accident. He should not have gotten a gun :(

"Flight of Fancy" #8 - Kasey is fine! The gunshot only grazed her. Gabriel is wearing a funny/cool fur trimmed coat that I like during this whole thing.
Gabriel bandaging Kasey's head. He's wearing a long coat with a black fur trim, orange shirt and orange goggles.
Tyler Stone is showing Dana their plan to colonize Mars and their plan to reclaim(?) 'Alantis', some underwater thing of Alchemax's. Anyways, Dana is wearing an ICONIC outfit during this scene. Like so so cool.
Dana is wearing a green outfit. It consists of two pieces, a dress with cut off sleeves at the elbow and a sash in the middle. The light colored top goes all the way down to the bottom of the dress, but has shorter sleeves and has a slash in the back.
Miguel is fighting the Freakers and Vulture, while Kasey and her group barge in and start fighting as well. But SURPRISE. Gabriel is there with Kasey. Kasey makes a comment about Miguel's butt, BUT I find it weird how undetailed his butt is in that panel. 🤨 Anyway, Miguel defeats Vulture and we see 'Angela Daskalakis' who recruits Sergeant Estevez to get back at Tyler Stone... and Spider-Man.

"Home Again, Home Again" #9 - This issue is penciled by someone new, Kelley Jones. It scared me seeing that the art style was going to keep changing, but it's kinda cool.
Miguel knocks out and steals a Flyboy's uniform to get home unbothered.
We see Kasey talking about S-Man, and she's very obviously into him, which upsets Gabriel.
Gabriel with his eyes closed and hands balled up in front of his face saying 'But doesn't he have the cutest little...' with hearts around him. goofy lookin' panel...
This section has a text inconsistency, because Kasey's name is spelt 'Casey' instead. ???.
anyways Miguel gets caught up to by other Flyboys, but it's because they were all called in to apprehend Spider-Man somewhere near by.
MORE WORLD-BUILDING. We finally figure out that 'Indys' refer to independant corporations, and that's what the Vulture thought created Spider-Man. We see Angela Daskalakis driving Estevez to an Indy owned town called Nightshade. This is also where we learn that the locals to New York are calling it 'Nueva York' instead. >:) world-building.
Back with Miguel and the Public Eye Flyboys, we realize that the Spider-Man sighting is of multiple people dressed up as him, who are called Spiderites and are now worshipping Spider-Man. Miguel finally gets home and he lies to Dana, saying he's been missing because he's trying to develop a method of getting rid of the Rapture side effects. Gabriel barges in and tells Miguel that they need to go see their mom.

"Mother's Day" #10 - Miguel, Gabriel and Dana go to visit the O'Hara's mother. WOOHOO. The two of them don't seem to be very worried about her, and she seems to ber pretending. Like she literally pretends to die, then argues with Miguel. lol.
Girl in a jacket
It's revealed that this happens every few months. Gabriel and Dana urge him to go talk to her in a kinda funny panel. They look so goofy. Miguel looking grumpy

We get to see Miguel and Gabriel as kids, with their parents. We see their dad, George O'Hara, come in and break the news that Miguel is going to Alchemax's boarding school. This upsets their mom (Conchata) and the two proceed to fight. THIS GIVES US ONE OF THE SADDEST PANELS. A young Miguel holds a young Gabriel. There are shadows of their parents fighting in the background. The text reads 'We were used to their fighting all the time... I mean not like THAT...' Then in a seperate box, 'Miggy just HELD me. Didn't say ANYTHING. That night I even climbed into bed with him, and he just kept HOLDING me...'
Anyway. Dana and Gabriel continue to talk about Miguel, and how Dana first met their father. She mentions how she saw Miguel cry at his funeral, and how it's clear he cares.
Back with Tyler Stone, he talks about the Alantis restoration, and sees that mutants attacked it. He decides to attack back. We also see him flush his son's ashes down the toliet..
Back with Conchata and Miguel, we learn that cigarettes are illegal, and we see that she has a shrine to Spider-Man in her closet, and she idolizes him for being against corportations. Miguel tries to show her that he is Spider-Man, but she doesn't believe him, but she thinks it's sweet that he cares enough to try and pretend to be him.
Miguel and Conchata. He's trying to show her the talons on his hands but she hugs him and leaves instead of looking. They're dialogue is 'Ohhh God... Miguel... I wouldn't have believed it.' miguel tries to interupt with 'Ma, would you please LOOK at--' but she continues 'You actually got jealous of Spider-Man and tried to convince me you're him. You're still a lousy son, but you're trying harder. Thank you for caring what I think, sweetheart.' Miguel is left alone as he says 'Uh... You're welcome.'
On his way home, Miguel beats up some Flyboys and delcares war on Alchemax and Stark, and breaks a security post like the one his dad instaleld in the Dana flashback! Good for him. He talks to a plaque of his dad's, and reveals that at his funeral he cried because he was upset he didn't kill him. WHOOPSIES. But he ends this issue with this COOL THING.
Miguel is walking towards a large version of himself in his Spider-Man costume. He is saying 'And... At least until I've managed to find a cure for my... Condition. I'm going to start making it into a vision that I can stand to look at.'
